Out: Drop by the Fisherman
Co-op at the Apollo Bay Pier to collect mouth watering fresh crayfish
and other local seafood. Dine out at one of the trendy cafes or
fine dine in the renowned restaurants. There is a wide-ranging selection
of menus around town so there will be something to cater for all
tastes and budgets. |

Johanna
Location:
Johanna is located
just off the Great Ocean Road between Apollo Bay and Port Campbell.
It is a stunning valley with green, rolling hills and bushland reaching
to the ocean.
Surfing:
Johanna
is probably best known as a world class surfing beach. The Rip Curl
Pro is often held at Johanna Beach if Bells Beach is not good enough.
Fishing:
Johanna Beach is great for surf fishing. Salmon and snapper being
the most common fish. The Johanna River is also good for trout and
eel.
Walks:
The Great Ocean Walk goes
right through Johanna, offering walkers the variety of walks through
coastal scrub lined dunes, beach walks and then high on the green
hills looking back over the cliffs and the ocean. |

Kennett River is
located on the Great Ocean Road halfway between Lorne and Apollo
Bay.
Convenience:
Kennett River Koala Cafe is open every day
and provides café & take away food. Wye River is a 5
minute drive East, and Apollo Bay a 20 minute drive West.

Location:
The Otway Ranges was traditionally known as the area inland from
Cape Otway, bordered by Apollo Bay and Moonlight Head, and inland
to Colac. This lush, temperate rainforest region is home to lots
of native wildlife and natural attractions.
Things
to See & Do: The Otway
Fly Tree Top walk is located near Beech Forest. There are many waterfalls
in the area, including Triplet Falls, Beauchamp Falls, Hopetoun
Falls and Stevenson Falls. Winter is the best time to see these
waterfalls, although being the wettest place in Victoria, there
is water flowing all the time. Melba Gully is located near Lavers
Hill and is a beautiful rainforest walk with Glow Worms at night
time. |

Separation Creek is a 2.5 hour drive (160km)
from Melbourne and is located on the Great Ocean Road between Lorne
and Apollo Bay. It is a very small town located only 2km from Wye
River.
Things
to See & Do: Separation
Creek offers visitors a prime location to experience the natural
environment including beaches, surfing, fishing, fantastic walks
and abundant wildlife.
Surfing
and Swimming: For surfers,
Wye River and Kennett River provide shore breaks and reef surfing.
There are many other great surfing places within a short drive including
Torquay (Bells Beach). The beaches at Separation Creek and Wye River
are ideal for swimming, with beach patrols during summer on weekends
and public holidays. At low tide, take a swim in the rock pools.
Walks:
For walking enthusiasts, discover the stunning
natural beauty of the area on foot with many short and long walks
available around Wye River. From an easy 20-minute walk such as
Paddy’s Path that follows an old tramway route from Separation
Creek to Wye River, to a 2.5-hour circuit of Wye River that provides
breathtaking coastal views. Or perhaps you would prefer a relaxing
stroll along the beach. There are walks to suit everyone.
Wild
life: Koalas are abundant
in the Wye River/Separation Creek/Kennett River area. You will see
them lazing about in trees from your balcony from most properties.
The birds are an absolute delight to feed, from the balcony of the
properties or just sit and watch them whilst they feed out of their
trays. Kookaburras, King Parrots & Cockatoos are frequent visitors.

Out: The Wye Beach Hotel (formally
the Rookery Nook Hotel) offers a pleasant atmosphere with spectacular
ocean views and is open for lunch and dinner everyday and breakfast
on Sundays. The Fat Cow cafe at Wye River is open during the day
over peak holiday periods. The Koala Cafe at Kennett River is open
all year round. Alternatively, Lorne is only a 15 minute drive and
Apollo Bay half an hour, both home to a variety of renowned cafes
and restaurants.
